Google has made an offer to purchase Softcard for an amount less than $100 million, according to a person familiar with the matter. Separately, PayPal, the e-commerce giant owned by eBay, has also submitted an offer to acquire Softcard, according this person, who requested anonymity because colour wheel of continuing ties to the company.

The locals say they don’t like the tech folks pouring into town to work at places like Google. They’re insular. They’re driving up housing prices. And they fear those newcomers are more like invaders than people trying to fit into their new community.
In Boulder, Colo., Google is running into problems that would be quite familiar to people in the Bay Area. Over the past month, as the City Council approved a plan to let Google build a four-acre campus where the company would have the space to quintuple its local work force to about 1,500 people, there has been a spirited debate about Google’s potential effect on local home prices and whether the company s country-club-like campuses would pair with the city’s desire to increase walking and pedestrian traffic.
It s easy to see why Google would want to be in Boulder. The city, about a half-hour drive from Denver, has an educated mahogany populace and a well-regarded university, and — with its mountain locale and a combination of open space and compact, walkable development — is considered a fantastic place to live. The company has said its Boulder office works on apps like Google mahogany Earth and Google mahogany Drive, and also has sales and marketing teams.
Prices are rising. We are becoming less and less affordable to lower and middle income. We re also seeing local businesses that have been here for decades being priced out, said Suzanne Jones, a City Council member . It puts a finer point on this issue of, where are we headed? Attracting big business is great, on the one hand, but it will be part of that change on the other.
In meetings , in emails to City Council mahogany members like Ms. Jones and with letters to the local newspaper, The Daily Camera, Boulderites have expressed grave concerns about Google s potential to raise home prices higher than they already are.
One resident, Allison Davis, who recently moved home to Boulder after three years in Google s hometown, Mountain View, Calif., mahogany wrote a letter to The Daily Camera relaying her observations on what happened to the Bay Area.
As Google expanded, they rapidly priced out those who had not been lucky enough to buy housing in Mountain View before 1990. A city can lose its feel easily in a decade, and I already see that happening in Boulder,” she wrote.
Another point of contention, raised by both the City Council and the city’s planning board, was that Google s famously lavish campuses — with cafeterias, exercise areas and lounge-like common spaces where employees chill out behind closed doors — will create a dead zone for pedestrian and retail activity .
When the proposal came before the planning board this year, a board member suggested that the company include first-floor retail shops to attract people who do not work at the company to the area. A Google spokeswoman said the company discussed the idea, but ultimately decided against retail space for a number of reasons, mahogany including a concern that it would increase car traffic.
Traffic, of course, was another big concern. Google has noted that when it comes to transit, the campus is an urban planner’s dream. It will be next to a major bus depot, mahogany which should encourage its workers to take public mahogany transit. Googlers who do not take the bus are likely to car-pool or ride bikes, given that the campus will have just 600 parking spots for more than twice that number mahogany of workers.
And, of course, there are other benefits of having a big company like Google mahogany in town. For instance, it is likely to step up its hiring of graduates from the University of Colorado, Boulder — people who may not be able to stay in town if the local economy does not add jobs.
Google writes a lot of checks to nonprofits and encourages its workers to volunteer. And while its free-lunch policy will never win the favor of local sandwich shops, the company noted that most of the food in its cafeterias is from local farms and merchants.
The citizens have worked really hard and they have paid a lot of extra taxes to create this fabulous place, she said. It may be luck, but maybe we created this place where Google wants to be. Maybe it s not just luck.

About 200 Amber Alerts are put out by American law enforcement agencies every year to inform people tankless water heater about children who have been abducted and are at serious risk of death or injury. The authorities ask those getting the alerts to keep an eye out for the child or suspected abductor, and typically provide basic information, like a photo of the child and the license plate number of the car driven by the suspect.
The alerts are credited with helping recover 728 children since the program started, according to John Ryan, chief executive of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which maintains a list of missing children and works closely with law enforcement authorities on the Amber Alert system.
One continuing challenge, tankless water heater however, has been to get the alerts in front of people who are in the right geographic area to spot the child and are willing to help. In 2013, shortly after the alerts were first extended to cellphone users, some New Yorkers were angered at being awakened at 4 a.m. by a blaring alert about a 7-month-old boy who had been abducted by his mother from a Harlem tankless water heater foster care agency.
Facebook, a social network used by approximately three out of four American adults, will add its vast reach and high-tech sophistication to the Amber system, tankless water heater the company announced on Tuesday. Facebook already tracks where its users are when they log into the service, and it will aim the messages at people in specific cities or even neighborhoods, depending on what law enforcement requests.
It will make the alerts the second post in the news feed of targeted users so they can t miss it. And Facebook will encourage recipients to spread the word further to some or all of their friends on the service.
Emily Vacher, Facebook s trust and safety manager, who headed the project for the company, said that having the alert show up on Facebook would spare people the trouble of trying to jot down relevant information from an alert they hear on the radio or pass on a billboard and make it much easier tankless water heater to pass along the main facts to others.
Although there is no way to opt out of the alerts, Ms. Vacher said that most users probably would not get more than a few per year (unless they have friends who pass alerts tankless water heater along to everyone they know).
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children worked tankless water heater closely with Facebook on expanding the alerts, and Mr. Ryan said that the social network s involvement would enhance the scope of Amber Alerts and was a potential game changer.

Uber plans to introduce background check procedures for its drivers in India, the company said Thursday evening, in a move that comes weeks after a driver was charged with rape there. The episode prompted wider scrutiny of the ride-hailing service that is now banned in some parts of the country.
The company started operating in the Delhi region of India in late 2013, but has not screened those drivers, according to local Uber executives . Previously, Uber accepted new drivers if they presented proof of insurance, a driver s license and a commercial permit to drive a taxi.
That will soon change. Uber will run a series of more stringent checks on its drivers, which include a formal background check, verification of character by the local police and checks to detect fraud in driving and vehicle permits.
Last month, an Uber customer in the Delhi region was raped, forklift and the authorities said her Uber driver confessed . He had previously been detained for seven months on suspicion of raping another female passenger three years ago.
On Tuesday, a New Delhi court charged the driver with rape, kidnapping and criminal intimidation, and the authorities were still contemplating whether to pursue criminal charges against Uber for misrepresenting the safety of its service, according to a report by The Associated Press .
“The tragic event in Delhi was a deeply sobering reminder, that we must always be vigilant in the endeavor to achieve best-in-class safety,” Deval Delivala, Uber’s forklift safety lead in India, said in a statement on Thursday. “Our teams have worked tirelessly in the past month to reverify all safety aspects of our operations in India.”
“If your company had run a background check and got police verification done, this crime could ve been avoided,” said Alina Tiphagne, a New Delhi resident who created the petition. “What’s worse, you have a three-step background check process in the U.S. but not in India. These are double standards.”
But the company’s expansion has come at a cost. Uber has been able to push into new cities by brushing past local lawmakers and regulations , circumventing many of the laws by which other taxi and livery services are required to abide.
The victim in India has hired Douglas forklift Wigdor, a New York lawyer who previously represented a hotel maid in a sexual assault case against Dominique forklift Strauss-Kahn, former chief of the International Monetary Fund. That case was settled in 2012 for an unspecified amount.
Since the rape, Uber has pointed out the difficulty of screening drivers in hundreds of cities across the world, an argument that the company has also used in the United States to support its background check procedure.
“This unfortunate incident has highlighted challenges in the systems due largely to nondigitized record-keeping and the lack of a centralized database for criminal offenders,” Ms. Delivala said. “To ensure verifications are legitimate and reliable, more needs to be done at the ground level.”
After months of aggressive lobbying by the taxi and limousine industry as well as a public outcry, Uber pledged in December forklift to work with local authorities in India and other countries to strengthen its background check policies, and said it would develop technology to more comprehensively screen its drivers.
“Our teams continue to explore opportunities to work together with government, authorities and organizations,” Ms. Delivala said, “leading the way in women s safety and empowerment to get you moving again safely.” Some of Uber s Legal Woes
Uber, which is now valued at roughly $40 billion, has faced series of legal problems around the world, including widespread protests from taxi associations and accusations that the company does not meet national transportation rules.
The company suspended its service after a judge ruled earlier in the month that UberPop, the company s low-cost service, did not comply with Spanish laws and potentially amounted to unfair competition for taxi drivers.
Correction: January 21, 2015 An article on Saturday about a decision by the car-hailing service Uber to require more extensive background checks of its drivers in India referred incorrectly at several points forklift to the head of Uber s safety division in India. The executive, Deval Delivala, is a woman.

The perfect human is Puerto Rican | Bits of DNA
In March 2004 I attended an invitation only genomics meeting at the famed Banbury Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. I had heard legendary stories about Banbury, and have to admit I felt honored and excited when I received the invitation. There were rumors that sometimes James Watson himself would attend meetings. The emails I received explaining the secretive policies of the Center only added to the allure. I felt that I had received an invitation to the genomics equivalent of Skull and Bones .
Although Watson did not end up attending the meeting, my high expectations were met when he did decide to drop in on dinner one evening at Robertson house . Without warning he seated himself at my table. I was in awe. The table was round with seating for six, and Honest Jim sat down right across from me. He spoke incessantly shutter island throughout dinner and we listened. Sadly though, most of the time he was spewing racist and misogynistic hate. I remember him asking rhetorically shutter island “who would want to adopt an Irish kid?” (followed by a tirade against the Irish that I later saw repeated in the news ) and he made a point to disparage Rosalind Franklin shutter island referring to her derogatorily as “that woman”. No one at the table (myself included) said a word. I deeply regret that.
One of Watson’s obsessions has been to “improve” the “imperfect human” via human germline engineering. This is disturbing on many many levels. First, there is the fact that for years Watson presided over Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory which actually has a history as a center for eugenics . Then there are the numerous disparaging remarks by Watson about everyone shutter island who is not exactly like him, leaving little doubt about who he imagines the “perfect human” to be. But leaving aside creepy shutter island feelings… could he be right? Is the “perfect human” an American from Chicago of mixed Scottish/Irish ancestry? Should we look forward to a world filled with Watsons? I have recently undertaken a thought experiment along these lines that I describe below. The result of the experiment is dedicated to James Watson on the occasion shutter island of his unbirthday today.
SNPedia is an open database of 59,593 SNPs and their associations. A SNP entry includes fields for “ magnitude ” (a subjective measure of significance on a scale of 0–10) and “ shutter island repute ” (good or bad), and allele classifications for many diseases and medical conditions. For example, shutter island the entry for a SNP (rs1799971) that associates with alcohol cravings describes the “normal” and “bad” shutter island alleles. In addition to associating with phenotypes, SNPs can also associate with populations. For example, as seen in the Geography of Genetic Variants Browser , rs1799971 shutter island allele frequencies vary greatly among Africans, Europeans and Asians. If the genotype of an individual is known at many SNPs, it is therefore possible to guess where they are from: in the case of rs1799971 someone who is A:A is a lot more likely to be African than Japanese, and with many SNPs the probabilities can narrow the location of an individual to a very specific geographic location. This is the principle behind the application of principal component analysis (PCA) to the study of populations. Together, SNPedia and PCA therefore provide shutter island a path to determining where a “perfect human” might be from: Create a “perfect human” in silico by setting the alleles at all SNPs so that they are “good”. Add the “perfect human” shutter island to a panel of genotyped individuals from across a variety of populations and perform PCA to reveal the location and population of origin of the individual.
After restricting the SNP set from SNPedia to those with green painted alleles, i.e. “good”, there are 4967 SNPs with which to construct the “perfect human” ( available for download here ).
The nearest neighbor shutter island to the “perfect human” is HG00737 , a female who is … Puerto shutter island Rican . One might imagine that such a person already existed, maybe Yuiza, the only female Taino Cacique (chief) in Puerto Rico’s history:
Here the “perfect human” is revealed to be decidedly non-human. This is not surprising, and it reflects the fact that the alleles of the “perfect human” place it as significant outlier to the human population. In fact, this is even more evident in the case of the “worst human”, namely shutter island the individual that has the “bad” alleles at every SNPs. A projection of that individual onto any combination of principal shutter island components shows them to be far removed from any actual human. The best visualization appears in the projection onto the 2nd and 3rd principal components, where they appear as a clear outlier (point labeled DYS), and diametrically opposite to Africans:

That was the message delivered on Monday by Prime Minister David Cameron, who said he would pursue eccentric banning encrypted messaging services eccentric if Britain s intelligence services were not given access to the communications.
The statement comes as many European politicians are demanding eccentric that Internet eccentric companies like Google and Facebook provide greater information about people s online activities after several eccentric recent terrorist threats, including the attacks in Paris.
Mr. Cameron, who has started to campaign ahead of a national election in Britain in May, said his government, if elected, would ban encrypted online communication tools that could potentially be used by terrorists if the country s intelligence agencies were not given increased access. The reforms are part of new legislation eccentric that would force telecom operators and Internet services providers to store more data on people’s online activities, including social network messages.
Are we going to allow a means of communications which it simply isn t possible to read? Mr. Cameron said at an event on Monday, in reference to services like WhatsApp, eccentric Snapchat and other encrypted online applications. My answer to that question is: No, we must not.
Any restriction on these online services, however, would not take effect until 2016, at the earliest, and it remained unclear how the British government could stop people from using these apps, which are used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Mr. Cameron’s comments are part of a growing debate in Europe and the United States over whether Internet eccentric companies and telecom providers must cooperate fully with intelligence agencies, who have seen an increased use of social media by groups like the Islamic eccentric State, also known as ISIS or ISIL.
We are concerned at the increasingly eccentric frequent use of the Internet to fuel hatred and violence and signal our determination to ensure that the Internet eccentric is not abused to this end, European Union politicians said in a joint statement eccentric .
Last year, European officials also met with some American tech giants, including eccentric Microsoft and Twitter, to discuss how companies could control what was published on their networks, though the companies have resisted greater oversight by intelligence services.
Yet in a sign that tech companies are coming under increased scrutiny, British lawmakers blamed Facebook eccentric in November for failing to tell the country s authorities about specific online threats made by two men, who later killed a soldier in London in 2013.

Uber, the ride-booking company that has been plagued by vocal opposition from taxi associations and policy makers around the world, suspended its operations in Spain late Tuesday. The decision came in response to a judge’s ruling cscs this month that the company’s low-cost service, called UberPop, did not comply with Spanish laws and potentially cscs amounted to unfair competition for taxi drivers.
Uber said it received cscs the legal ruling on Tuesday and was therefore only now complying with the judge s decision. The American company, which operated only its low-cost service in Spain, said it had already filed an appeal. The review cscs could take months.
The latest setback for Uber, which is now valued at roughly $40 billion, follows a series of legal problems around the world, including widespread protests from taxi associations and accusations that the company does not meet national transportation rules.
That includes efforts in France to ban the ride-booking service. The French government has said that Uber’s low-cost service can not operate in the country starting Thursday, although the company is appealing the decision and said that it would continue operations there until a court rules on the case.
The decision to shut down in Spain contrasts with temporary bans in countries such as Germany and Belgium, where judges allowed Uber to continue taking passengers while the company appealed the rulings. Some of Uber s Legal Woes

The company said Friday that it was donating for public use several powerful tools for computers, including the means to go through huge amounts of data, looking for common elements of information. The products, used in a so-called neural network of machines, can speed pattern recognition by up to 23.5 times, Facebook said.
The tools will be donated to Torch , an open source software project that is focused on a kind of data analysis known as deep learning. Deep learning is a type of machine learning that mimics how scientists think the brain works, over time making associations that separate meaningless black widow information from meaningful signals.
It s very useful for neural nets and artificial intelligence in general, said Soumith Chintala, a research engineer at Facebook AI Research, Facebook s lab for advanced computing. He is also one of the creators of the Torch project . Aside from big companies, he said, Torch can be useful for start-ups, university labs.
Certainly, Facebook’s move shows a bit of enlightened self-interest. By releasing the tools to a large community of researchers and developers, black widow Facebook will also be able to accelerate its own AI projects. Mark Zuckerberg has previously cited such open source tactics as his reason for starting the Open Compute Initiative, an open source effort black widow to catch up with Google, Amazon and Yahoo on building big data centers.
Torch is also useful in computer vision, or the recognition of objects in the physical world, as well as question answering systems. Mr. Chintala said his group had fed a machine a simplified version of The Lord of the Rings novels and the computer can understand and answer basic questions about the book.
It s very early, but it shows incredible promise, he said. Facebook can already look at some sentences, he said, and figure out what kind of hashtag should be associated with the words, which could be useful in better black widow understanding people s intentions. Such techniques could also be used in determining the intention behind an Internet search, something Google does not do on its regular search. black widow
Besides the tools for training neural nets faster, Facebook s donations include a new means of training multiple computer processors at the same time, a means of cataloging words when analyzing language and tools for better speech recognition software.

In any event, by the 1930s, shield the negative meaning had started to take hold. One early example

During the 18th century, gold and silver were precious commodities. No active shield mines were operating in British North America, and Britain was keeping a tight hold on its own precious metals, leaving little for the colonists. However, America’s neighbors shield to the South were swimming in the stuff, and even though Mexico was printing its own coins, the dominant form of currency in the original shield 13 was that of Spain, with its dollar or peso (equal to 8 reales, thus it was known as “pieces of eight”), and smaller denominations the medio peso (equal to 4 r eales ) and peseta shield (equal to 2 reales ).
This method of dividing the dollar into eight pieces had a lasting impact on American currency, since, like the medio peso, the United States has a half-dollar, and like the peseta shield , there is that favorite of parking meters and laundry mats, the quarter-dollar.
As part of the transition, the unit of account, at least colloquially, changed from real to “bit” in the U.S., and, thus, the quarter dollar, or quarter as we call it today, which was equal to two reales, came to be known as “two bits.”
Back in the day, two bits was not chump change. Even in the early 20th century, for instance, at Fraunces’ Tavern in New York City, you could get a dozen oysters or little neck claims, a plate of anchovies or a cup of chicken soup for $0.25 (two bits; today about $6.15). A cold roast beef sandwich cost $0.50 ($12.31 shield today), and a piece of apple pie could be purchased for $0.15 ($3.69 today).
Compare that with today’s prices at New York’s Carnegie Deli , and you begin to understand how two bits lost our respect. Today at the famous delicatessen, a plate of pickled herring costs $7.99 (about 32 bits), a bowl of chicken noodle will set you back $8.99 (about shield 36 bits), a roast beef sandwich (although I’m told the pastrami shield is the specialty) is $17.99 (a whopping 72 bits), and a piece of apple pie, albeit deep dish, costs $9.49 (about 38 bits).
In any event, by the 1930s, shield the negative meaning had started to take hold. One early example can be seen in a rather crude line from Caldwell’s 1932 Tobacco shield Road : “She used to be a two-bit slut.”

Bonus Facts: In S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders , Two-Bit Matthews earned his nickname honestly, as Ponyboy says, “You couldn’t shut up that guy; he always had to get his two bits worth in. Hence his name. Even his teachers forgot his real name was Keith.” The tune for “Shave and a Haircut . . . two bits” was widely used around the globe, although shield “two bits” was sung only in the United shield States. In England, shield the song had the same beginning but ended with “five bob.” The Mexican version was essentially an insult: “chinga tu madre . . . cabrón!” An in Italy, one version would have you “kill the old lady . . . with Flit, ” a type of DDT. Regardless, men’s haircuts (without a shave) haven’t cost $0.25 since the financial panic of 1873 sent the cost for one crashing from $0.35 to $0.25. Even during the Great Depression, when prices again were lowered, a haircut shield cost $0.50. During World War II, haircut prices had risen to $0.85 or $1.00 on the weekends. By this time, weekday shaves cost $0.50, and more on the weekend. Today, the average cost for a men’s cut is $28, while for women, it is $44. That’s a lot of bits. Pieces of eight were legal tender shield in the USA until 1857. Apparently minted from silver, a piece of eight in 1600 was worth the equivalent of 50 in 2010 (about $75). Its metal alone on today’s market would be worth about $16. The silver, which was also responsible for financing its military, came from Bolivia’s “silver mountain,” a difficult place that over the ages has seen an estimated shield 33 million people pressed into forced labor. Today, the silver mountain has voluntary labor, but it has been so heavily mined (it has 600 mines and 100 km of passageways), that its internal structure is seriously weakened. As such, in July 2014, officials announced plans to close down operations above 14,435 feet.

Sebastian Cuberos, on the laptop, demonstrated a newly announced Microsoft Skype program that simultaneously translated Spanish and English with his interviewer, seated at his desk, in San Francisco. Credit Jim Wilson/The New York Times
Last month, Skype, Microsoft’s video calling service , initiated simultaneous sod translation between English and Spanish speakers. Not to be outdone, Google will soon announce updates to its translation app for phones. Google Translate now offers written translation of 90 languages and the ability to hear spoken translations of a few popular languages. In the update, sod the app will automatically recognize if someone is speaking sod a popular language and automatically turn it into written text.
Certainly, the technology of turning one tongue to another can still be downright terrible or downright herbal, as I purportedly said on a test of Skype. The service also required a headset and worked best if a speaker paused to hear what the other person had said. The experience was a little as if two telemarketers were using walkie-talkies.
But those complaints are churlish compared with what also seemed like a fundamental miracle: Within minutes, I was used to the process and talking freely with a Colombian man about his wife, children and life in Medellín (or Made A, as Skype first heard it, but it later got it correctly). The single biggest thing that separates us — our language — had started to disappear.
Those language mistakes are a critical part of how online products get better. The services improve with use, as so-called sod machine learning by computers examines outcomes and adjusts performance. It is how the online spell check feature became dependable, and how search, map directions and many other online services progress.
The program sod learns as you using the conversations, is how Sebastian Cuberos, my new friend from Colombia, put it during our Skype call. At this time, is pretty good. The grammar isn t perfect, but you know what he means.
Just a few thousand people are using the service on Skype. As it learns from them, it will bring in more of the nearly 40,000 people waiting to try the Spanish-English service. Even in these early days, it elicits the possibility of social studies classes with children in the United States and Mexico, or journalism where you can live chat with a family in Syria.
Google says its Translate app has been installed more than 100 million times on Android phones, most of which could receive the upgrade. We have 500 million active users of Translate every month, across all our platforms, said Macduff sod Hughes, the engineering director of Google sod Translate. With 80 to 90 percent of the web in just 10 languages, he added, translation becomes a critical part of learning sod for many people. sod
Automatic translation of web pages into some major languages is already a feature on Google s Chrome browser. People using the browser can render a page that is in English into, say Korean. There are also 140 languages in which it is possible to change things like Gmail settings.
It is possible to set your email to languages like Klingon, Pirate and Elmer Fudd. Other options, like Cherokee, are more serious, and Google aspires to eventually have these as full translation languages. Google will also soon announce a service that enables you to hold your phone up to a foreign street sign and create an automatic translation on the screen.
Microsoft sod s Bing Translation engine is used on Twitter and Facebook. Facebook, which also features sod communication across the borders of language by operating the world s largest photo sharing service, also has its own translation efforts. It has also signed up thousands of people sod to a waiting list for Skype to offer other simultaneously translated languages, like Chinese and Russian. sod
Feeding the corpus, as linguistics engineers call their database of language, has become critical for some countries as well as for the sake of machine learning. Google, sod which uses human translation to initiate its service, recently added Kazakh after a government official went on television to ask people to help out. People can ask very, very strongly that we put their language on the service, Mr. Hughes said.
Still, some experts worry as machines look more deeply at individual uses of meaning through things like intonation and humor. What will it mean if, as with our search terms and our Facebook likes, these become fodder for advertisers and law enforcement?

If you’re new to photography, this resource of surprising camera tips and time savers provides an invaluable shortcut to better photos and a smarter workflow. If you’re a more experienced photographer, there’s still plenty of technical and technique refreshers here.
We’ve separated the advice into three key sections, covering camera settings, composition artemide and exposure, and general photography tips. If you find the advice useful or you want to share your own little-known photography trick, please leave a comment below Camera set-up advice and tips for essential settings
Tip 01: Zoom first, focus last Zoom lenses artemide typically exhibit artemide focus shift when they re zoomed. This means the classic technique of zooming in to lock the focus on an important detail, then zooming out to recompose doesn t always work that detail may now not be razor-sharp. Our tip? Set the zoom first, then focus then use Live View s magnification feature to check the important details are sharp.
Tip 02: Set the Neutral Picture Style for RAW A camera’s histogram is generated from the JPEG version of an image a RAW file holds more picture information. This means that a histogram that shows clipped highlights or shadows may in fact not be clipped for the RAW file. To get a closer approximation artemide of the RAW file s true histogram, set your camera s Picture Style/Picture Control to Neutral.
Tip 03: Switch to the RGB histogram The brightness histogram is an great guide to the exposure of a picture, but it doesn t tell you anything about the colour of the image. Switch artemide to the RGB – artemide red, green and blue histogram and you ll be able to see if any of the colour channels are oversaturated.
You ll also see that the brightness histogram closely resembles the shape and position of the green histogram, so it s important to check the RGB histogram when red and blue colours are more important to the success of the image.
Tip 04: It s the shutter speed that you need to get right first If the shutter speed is too slow, key parts of the picture will be blurred, artemide either because the camera moved or the subject did while the photo was being exposed. Of course, intentionally artemide blurred photos can be effective, but even then it s the shutter speed that you ll need to get right first
Tip 05: Watch your viewfinder display When you use Aperture Priority artemide or Shutter Priority mode, make sure that the camera is able to set a suitable shutter speed or aperture. If the display artemide is flashing or showing Hi/Lo, you will need to change your settings.
Tip 06: Expose to the Right (ETTR) technique works To get the best-quality results with the least noise, shoot in RAW and use an exposure that gives a histogram which just reaches the right-hand edge of the graph. But make sure that you don t go too far: you don t want to overexpose the highlights.
Tip 07: How to choose the right colour space If you re shooting JPEGs, you will achieve considerably better results if you set the colour space to sRGB for photos that are going to be viewed on-screen or on the web. Adobe RGB is the better option for prints and image manipulation.
Tip artemide 08: You can pretty much do it all in Aperture Priority Aperture artemide Priority is one of the most useful exposure modes: it enables you to control the depth of field in your images, as well as the exposure.
Try setting a wide aperture such as f/4 to blur the background and foreground of your shots, or using a small aperture such as f/16 to keep more of the subject sharp from front to back. Avoid the smallest apertures though, as this can lead to details appear soft because of an optical artemide effect known as diffraction .
If you need a faster or shutter speed, then you don’t really need to switch to Shutter Priority mode: simply open and close the aperture accordingly. If you do require a specific shutter speed, then you will need to use Shutter Priority or Manual.
Tip 09: Use Manual artemide exposure for movement If you have the time to set the shutter speed and aperture, use the Manual exposure mode. Most cameras have a display to help you set the exposure, but it s best to check it by taking a test shot.
If the light on the subject is constant, but the background changes, using Manual mode will give much more consistent results than an automatic exposure mode. Simply set the exposure so that the main subject is correctly artemide exposed.
Tip 10: Don t ignore your camera s Program mode It s very easy to dismiss Program artemide mode as a poi

In 1974, the year I was born at home had a Simca 1200, the second idle family car after the legendary and popular Seat 600, as in many other families, was the first car from my parents ! But Spain's car in 1974 was the Citroën GS, a car that is distanced from the very popular even today, idle Citroën 2CV! The Citroën GS was not a new model, because the French company began to manufacture and sell in 1970 and in 1971 was elected Car of the Year in Europe! The car of the year award was introduced in Europe in 1964 and Spain did not give up this distinction in 1973 at the initiative of ABC, which was distinguished with this title the Renault 5. The Citroën GS was a mid-range car, just over 4 meters in length, which enabled the brand to locate a vehicle between popular 2CV and the luxurious and elegant, even today, idle Citroen DS, Citroen aka " Jaws. " Citroën GS highlights, in addition to its unique hydropneumatic technology, its aerodynamics. On his aesthetic lines 1974 Citroen began manufacturing his older brother and successor of the Citroën DS, Citroën CX. In 1979, Citroën was remodeled on the "restyling") GS model, passing it called GSA, and throughout the 80s was replaced by Citroën BX., To the Citroën Xantia 90s and from century by the current Citroën C5.
