We came to Vienna to see live the works of one of our favorite painters Gustav Klimt. We stared in front of The Kiss, and we would no longer wanted to come away from the Belvedere (the castle that houses some of his most important works).
We stumbled almost by accident in the Hundertwasser House, a housing complex built by the vibrant and colorful painter and architect Hundertwasser, eccentric and controversial personality who anticipated some of the concepts of green building. The facility includes fifty apartments that are leased each year by the City of Vienna to poorer households than within them have at least one person interested and active in the contemporary art world. The artist created the structure with the intent to bring color and happiness to those who could least afford it. According to his view, as is the case in nature, the houses are not only sharp but curved lines. Great importance is given to the columns and the curved facade is entirely colored.
Not far away is the KunstHaus a museum dedicated to the artist who also hosts contemporary exhibitions. Here you can better understand the personality of Hundertwasser and admire its whimsical paintings.
To complete the vision of the present works by the artist to make a trip to Vienna FERNWÄRME, the incinerator Spittelau he redesigned after a fire in 1987 which stands out from a stack that looks like a golden bulb.

Hudertwasser glas was definitely one of the most interesting glas artists to Austria. His buildings are still admired by many tourists and also by the inhabitants of the city. Thanks for the tip!
