It is a text-to-speech synthesizer Welsh us, which is compatible with Microsoft Speech API, has grown a basis for a new text-to-speech to the Sinhala language, which is spoken by 16 million people in Sri Lanka .
In recent months we have been in contact with Asanka Wasala, doing research Sinhala Language Technology Research Lab at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Using our software MSAPI, and with a bit of our help, he has now developed a text-to-speech synthesizer first Sinhala language, using the Festival framework. It is also the first time any one MSAPI Welsh us to adapt our language.
The text-to-speech system works well with a screen reader Sinhala'n "Thunder", which is free for personal use. This means that Sinhala speakers who are blind or sighted cohesion can use a screen reader in their own language for the first time.
The Asanka Wasala loves outcome of the collaboration, cohesion saying: "I'm so grateful to you and your team for having created and shared a piece of software is so wonderful and so helpful ... The blind community in Sri Lanka thanks to You. "
